Service Policies & Client Guidelines

To ensure the highest level of safety, dependability, and protection for your pets, property, and our staff, we operate under clear, transparent service policies. These policies are subject to change as we strive to meet the needs of our growing business while providing the best possible care for your pets. Please review our official policies prior to scheduling services.

Client Onboarding & Intake Policy

  • Mandatory Meet & Treat Consultation: Prior to confirming any initial service, an in-person intake consultation is required to meet your pets, walk through care routines, verify property access, and check vaccination documentation. Consultations take place at your home or on neutral ground for pets needing open-space introductions. Read more about our meet & treat process.
  • Key & Home Access: We collect and test two sets of house keys or verify keypad entry codes during your initial Meet & Treat at no extra charge. Retained keys are stored securely and tagged with anonymous numeric internal codes—never client names or physical addresses.
  • Off-Schedule Key Trips: Off-schedule trips requested for key pickup or return outside of scheduled care visits incur a $15.00 travel fee per occurrence.

Reservation, Payment & Booking Cut-Offs

  • Official Estimates & Invoicing: All estimates, quotes, and invoices are issued electronically through Wave.
  • 50% Confirmation Deposit: All overnight bookings and multiple drop-in care packages require a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of scheduling to officially reserve and secure your dates on our calendar.
  • Remaining Balance Due: The remaining balance is strictly due 48 hours prior to the start of the first scheduled visit.
  • Advance Notice Requirements:
    • Single Drop-Ins & Dog Walks: Require at least 24 hours advance notice.
    • Multiple Drop-In & Overnight Bookings: Require a minimum of 30 days advance notice to lock in calendar availability.
    • Boarding & Farm Sitting: Require at least 7 days advance notice.
  • Urgent Booking Fee: Bookings requested with less than 48 hours advance notice incur a rush booking fee of +$18.00 for drop-in visits or +$30.00 for overnight, boarding, or farm care.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • Cancellations 14+ Days Notice: Cancellations provided with 14 or more days advance notice receive a 100% Care Credit valid for 6 months toward any future booking.
  • Cancellations Under 7 Days Notice: Cancellations made with less than 7 days notice forfeit the 50% deposit to cover reserved calendar availability.

Health, Vaccination & Medical Care Standards

  • Mandatory Rabies Vaccination: Proof of up-to-date Rabies vaccination (official certificate with tag number and expiration date) must be verified on file prior to service. Boarding guests additionally require current DHPP and Bordetella vaccinations plus active flea/tick/heartworm preventative verification.
  • Emergency Veterinary Release: Every client must have a signed Veterinary Emergency Authorization on file. In the event of a medical emergency, we will attempt to contact the owner immediately; if uncontactable, we will transport the pet to their primary veterinarian or the nearest emergency clinic. All medical expenses incurred are the owner’s financial responsibility.
  • Medication Administration Surcharges: We do not charge add-on fees for routine oral or topical medications. However, clients must book the appropriate care tier to ensure sufficient time for safe administration (e.g., Tier 2 for pills/liquids; Tier 3 or Tier 4 for injections, insulin, or subcutaneous fluids).
  • Supply Shortage Fee: If essential pet care supplies (food, litter, prescribed medications) run out during care, a $20.00 supply fee plus the actual cost of purchased supplies will be added to the invoice.

In-Home Dog Boarding Rules & Property Limits

  • Strict Home Capacity & Weight Limit: To maintain a calm environment, in-home boarding is strictly capped at one dog up to 50 lbs OR two small dogs from the same household at any one time. (Overnight pet sitting in the client’s home is recommended for dogs over 50 lbs).
  • Resident Pets & Socialization: Guest dogs share our home and yard with resident pets and must be thoroughly dog-friendly, fully socialized, and able to interact politely.
  • Mandatory Leash Policy: All dogs arriving or departing must be secured on a standard 4-to-6-foot non-retractable leash attached to a flat collar or harness. Retractable flexi-leads are strictly prohibited on the property for safety reasons.
  • Crate & Rest Protocol: Guest dogs are rested in a secure crate or private room during away windows (strictly capped at 3 to 4 hours maximum). Guests must be crate-trained or able to settle comfortably indoors.

Safety, Equipment & Behavioral Protocols

  • Leash Equipment Standard: For dog walking and outdoor visits, all dogs must be walked on standard 4-to-6-foot non-retractable leashes attached to a secure collar or harness. Retractable leashes are not permitted during walks.
  • Behavioral & Spicy Pet Handling: Pets requiring specialized safety prep, resistance management, or advanced behavioral handling incur a +$8.00 behavioral modifier per visit.
  • Mandatory Trial Visits: Short 15- to 30-minute pre-stay trial visits are required prior to extended departures for reactive/anxious pets, long-duration travel packages, or overnight care to ensure compatibility and pet comfort.
  • Severe Weather Adjustments: During extreme weather (severe heat, blizzards, high wind, or thunderstorms), outdoor leash walking is safely shortened to outdoor potty relief combined with indoor enrichment and play. On farm properties, essential feeding, hydration, waterer checks, and shelter safety are prioritized.

I have been working with Janette Mourton of Nettie’s Paws Pet Services. A year ago, I decided I really needed someone to come and let my 2 mastiffs out as I work and they would be left alone for extended periods of time. Janette was recommended to me from the Camden Neighborhood website, so I contacted her. We scheduled a “meet and greet” with the boys and everything went well, so we decided on 2 visits a day to let the boys outside for fresh air and company. Janette truly loves animals. She has a veterinary background and is very knowledgeable about dogs and cats. She takes them outside and sends pictures every day she is here. She will also contact me if there are any concerns she notices with either one of the dogs. I value her comments and observations very much. She will also trim their nails and has helped me out immensely with my puppy, a one year old Neo. He is a very large, stubborn boy and she handles him like a pro. She has worked with him on leash training and basic commands. She researched and found the best collar for me to use to work with him. My dogs are my family and I am very protective of them. Over the time Janette has worked with me, we have developed a nice rapport and I am 100% comfortable having her take care of the boys. She is truly a professional. If, at any time, she has another obligation, she lets me know is advance so I can plan around that. Anyone who needs a dependable, smart, friendly dog service is going to be happy they found Nettie’s Paws Pet Services. I know I am.

I got a new puppy and needed someone to take her out while I was at work and someone recommended Nettie’s Paws. I called her and she came over, met the dogs (I also have a senior dog) and we set up a schedule. She came over 2 times a day during the week, would always send me pictures, and my dogs loved her. Eventually, the puppy didn’t need to be let out anymore during the day so I haven’t used her for awhile but if I need her, like yesterday when I ended up in the hospital, I text her and she came over and let the dogs out for me. She is definitely reliable and trustworthy, I recommend her to others all the time and she does so many more things than just let dogs out, if you have a pet then Janette is a great person to help you with them.

We used Nettie’s services over NYE weekend to drop in and watch our dogs, it was short notice but she was very accommodating. Over the weekend our dog had injured herself and had trouble walking, Nettie’s was in constant communication and consultation with us. She is very knowledgeable and we decided that an emergency vet visit was not in order. She trimmed their nails and took care of our pets like she knew them forever. She made me feel like our pets were her customers and her focus, (which they are) she cared for them and we had no worries that they were not in good hands at any time we were away. Highly recommend Nettie’s and her services.

Nettie has been taking care of my pup for several months now and she’s doing a fantastic job. She comes for 30 minute visits during the work week. Reliable, friendly, and most importantly great with dogs. She also brings another pup with so her so my guy gets 30 minutes of doggie play. Nettie is affordable and flexible and I highly recommend!

Nettie took excellent care of my dog and 2 horses while I was out of town for 4 days. Everything looked great when I returned. Barn was cleaner and neater than when I left. My dog enjoyed her company. I would highly recommend Nettie.

Nettie is the best!! She’s honest and helpful and allows me to worry about working and not my dogs when I’m at work. I’m grateful for her being in our lives and hope she stays around for a long time. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She’s flexible and has always met our needs. She really goes that extra mile. We give her 5 paws!!

One of the best around. My dog, Sadie, is older and hates water. Can’t wait to take her back. She still won’t let me take her bandana off.

Janette did a wonderful job taking care of our big Cane Corso Brutus and our many cats while we vacationed for a week in Canada. We would highly recommend her services when you need someone to take care of your fur babies. She texted and sent pictures each time she came to the house. Thank you so much!

We have used Nettie’s Paws Pet Services several times. Janette has even stayed at our house for an entire week! Our 3 Goldens love her. ❤️ She is very conscientious and reliable. She also sends the best pictures to assure you that your pets are happy and well cared for. We know our fur-babies are going to receive the best care, whether it be a drop in and walk or an overnight stay.

When I first was introduced to Nettie’s Paws, I had a senior English Mastiff and had just gotten a new Neapolitan/English mastiff puppy and needed someone to let the guys out during the day while I was at work. The key issue was the new puppy, Gus, was very nervous about new people. Janette came over and we walked around the property and she got a chance to meet the boys on their own turf. Murphy, the senior, was fine and surprisingly, Gus liked Janette. So we arranged to have her come to let the boys out each day during the week. Fast forward several years and I am still using Nettie’s Paws and Janette. Only Gus is around now. Murphy went across the Rainbow Bridge and Janette chose to be with me when he passed. Janette is not just a person who “lets my dog out”. She cares for your animals just like you do. For the young doggos, she teaches them good behavior and walking right on a leash and more. For the seniors, she is gentle and accommodates their needs. Having worked in an animal hospital before, she has a lot of great background experience with animals on her side. Gus and I were so fortunate to find Janette and Nettie’s Paws. Gus is almost 4 now, still a menace to all, and she is one of the few people he has let into our family. I cannot say enough about her and her services. I complete faith and trust in her with my guy, who at times is challenging. She sends pics of their daily walks and goes beyond just letting him out. She has helped with medical issues and has become a fast friend to us. If you want someone who goes above and beyond to take care of your pet, someone can feel totally at ease and confident with your pets, I highly recommend Nettie’s Paws. They are the best around.

My dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes and I was super nervous about having someone else give him his insulin shot. With a vet background I had confidence in Janette caring for my little pup while I was away. Super knowledgeable and you can tell has a genuine love for animals. I highly recommend the convenient services she offers and will be a repeat client! Thank you ❤️
