Meet & Treat

Our Meet & Treat is a complimentary intake consultation designed to help us get to know your pet and ensure we are a great fit for your family’s needs. While these consultations typically take place right in your home, we are completely flexible to meet at a neutral location, such as a quiet public park, if your pet feels more comfortable, confident, or relaxed in an open space!

What We Cover During the Visit

During our 20- to 30-minute consultation, we walk through all the essential details to guarantee seamless care while you are away:

  • Pet Compatibility & Introductions: We introduce ourselves at your pet’s pace in an environment where they feel safest (at home or on neutral ground). For in-home boarding, this visit verifies dog-to-dog compatibility with resident pets.
  • Care Routines & Instructions: We review feeding schedules, medical needs, walking routes, favorite treats, and unique behavioral quirks.
  • Property & Key Access: You are encouraged to provide two sets of tested house keys or a secure keypad entry code during the initial Meet & Treat consultation. Retained keys are coded anonymously and stored securely when not in active service. If you are utilizing an on-site lockbox instead, you must provide the combination and box location as well as a backup access method (such as a garage code or trusted neighbor key).
  • Safety & Veterinary Verification: We verify rabies and vaccination records and keep a signed veterinary release form on file.
  • Trial Visit Scheduling: Short 15- to 30-minute trial visits are required before the main departure dates for long-duration vacation packages, first-time overnight stays, or reactive/anxious pets to ensure that the pets are more comfortable. These trial visits are not included as part of the initial meet & treat and will be billed as a standard check-in.

How to Prepare for Your Meet & Treat

To help our consultation run smoothly, please have the following items ready:

  • Vaccination Records: Proof of current Rabies (plus DHPP & Bordetella for boarding).
  • Home Access: 2 tested house keys or a verified keypad/lockbox code.
  • Location Preference: Let us know if you’d prefer an in-home visit or a nearby park/neutral location that suits your pet’s temperament.
  • Routine Notes: Notes on feeding amounts, medication doses, and walking preferences.
  • Pet Supplies: Easy access to leashes, harnesses, food, litter supplies, or farm gear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Meet & Treat required?

Yes. An in-person Meet & Treat is mandatory for all new clients prior to service confirmation to ensure pet safety, verify entry access, and review care plans.

Does the Meet & Treat have to be at my home?

Not necessarily! While we usually meet at your home, we understand that some pets are protective, anxious, or hyper-excitable on their home turf. We are more than happy to meet at a nearby public park or neutral outdoor location first so your pet feels completely relaxed.

How far in advance should I schedule?

Standard visits require at least 24 hours advance notice. Multi-day travel, overnight stays, and farm care require at least 7 days advance notice.

How do keys work after the initial visit?

Keys are collected free of charge during your Meet & Treat. Any key pickup or handover trips requested outside of scheduled care visits incur a $15 travel fee.

What is the deposit policy?

A 50% non-refundable deposit locks in your reservation dates on our calendar, with the remaining balance due 48 hours prior to your service start date.

What Pet Parents Say About Their First Visit

“Janette came over and we walked around the property and she got a chance to meet the boys on their own turf… I have complete faith and trust in her with my guy… She goes above and beyond to take care of your pet, someone you can feel totally at ease and confident with.”
